Shop Hardwood at American Flooring
For the month of October, you can shop for a more beautiful home while helping to fight breast cancer. 5% of every sale will be donated to the American Cancer Society, in support of Women’s Breast Cancer month.
Stop by any of our mid-Michigan showrooms to meet with a design consultant, and learn how American Flooring continues to serve our community, one home at a time. Get a head start on shopping for hardwood were this information:
- Hardwood flooring can be edged with a flat, “square” look, slightly-beveled “eased” edge, or a distinctive “beveled” edge.
- A high-gloss finish lends an elegant and formal look to low-traffic rooms.
- Modern hardwood has much lower upkeep with new finishes, but the hardness of the wood matters. Maple is slightly harder than Ash or Oak, and Brazilian Cherry is much harder than Black Cherry. Pine and Douglas Fir are softer than Hickory or Mahogany.
- Regardless of the hardwood floor species, a “sliced cut” will show a more-uniformed pattern than the bolder “rotary cut” process. Narrow “strips” can expand the look of a room, and wide “plank” cuts can make a room feel more cozy.
